Betty Sue Branson, 74, of Hamlet, NC passed away on June 4, 2020 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
Betty Sue was born August 23, 1945 in Aberdeen, NC to the late Cecil and Lois Seal Collins. She grew up in Aberdeen and earned an associate’s degree from Sandhills Community College. She worked for many years as a caregiver. She was a member of 2nd Baptist Church in Hamlet, NC. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who always placed the needs of others above her own.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Wesley Hales; and her siblings Freddie Collins, Judy Williams, and Sylvia Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Donna Hasty (Gene); son Ashley Hales; grandchildren Krystina and Hunter Matthews; great-grandchildren Brayden and Krystian Matthews. She is also survived by her siblings James “Buck” Collins (Aileen), Pat Collins, and Shirley Beane; several nieces and nephews and one very special niece, Kelly Collins, who she lovingly called “my girl.”

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 4:00-5:00 PM at Boles Funeral Home Chapel, 425 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Southern Pines, NC 28387. A memorial service will follow the visitation.
