Obituary for Calvin William Ebert of Cameron

Calvin William Ebert, of Cameron, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2024. Born on December 1, 1927 in River Rouge, MI to the late Clarence and Cora Ebert. He grew up in the Downriver area of Detroit and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, MI.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mary in 2011 and by his second wife E. Ruth Davies in 2016. Cal is survived by his five children from his first marriage: Diane (Gary) Henry of Sanford, NC; Deborah (Larry) Methner of Manchester, MI; Mark Ebert of Minneapolis, MN; Stephen (Blythe) Ebert of St Paul, MN; and Nancy (Robert) Mahala of Jackson, NJ. Also survived by grandchildren James (Kate) Henry, Jennifer (Steve) Donelson, Carly Ebert, Robert Mahala, Matthew Mahala, Ryan Mahala, Caitlin Mahala and great-grandchildren Sean Henry, Kylie Henry, and Braden Henry,

Cal was a veteran of WWII serving the US Coast Guard. He attended Wayne State University in Detroit and served in the Michigan National Guard. He was a police officer in the Detroit suburb of Trenton and worked for many years in the insurance industry. Cal and Shirley enjoyed sailing on Lake Superior.

Cal served as Eucharistic Minster at St. Anthony’s in Southern Pines.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Southern Pines, NC on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 9:00 am with Rev. John Kane officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Cemetery in Southern Pines, NC.
