Obituary for James Kenneth McIver

James Kenneth “Mac” McIver, 64, passed peacefully from his Earthly home to his Heavenly home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 3:00 pm, at Unity Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, and former choir director.  Rev. Jason Cheek and Dr. Rev. Jason Whitehurst will officiate, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Mac established a love for camping in 2018 when he and his wife decided to purchase their first RV.  From that point on, camping became a hobby that was full of fun and adventure, shared with his daughter and her family.  Lakewood Campground in Myrtle Beach became home base for their camper, from January – May each year, spending many great weekends just relaxing, and enjoying his time with his family.  A close second to camping was Mac’s love of Disney and Pixar movies, with Toy Story and Cars being two of his favorites.  Saturdays were usually movie days, with repeats of classics like Forrest Gump, Home Alone, and countless others, which he could usually quote verbatim.  You usually never seen Mac without a very large cup, full of Coke Zero.

Mac was employed by Ledwell & Sons in Fayetteville, for 14 years, where he was the Parts Manager.  The guys at Ledwell were like family to Mac, and he spoke highly of them often.

Mac was a son of the late Henry McIver and was preceded in death by his son: Keith Hussey.

Left to cherish all the precious memories is his wife of 28 years, Joan Allen McIver; daughter Stacey Hussey Morgan and husband Chris of Carthage, son Adam McIver of Charlotte;  his grandchildren, McKinley Morgan – his “Darlin”, Kolby Morgan – his “Kolby Man”, and Keiton Morgan – his “Taty Bug”, mother: Juanita Mann McIver of Goldston, sister Cindy Comito and husband Bob of Julian, brother Allen McIver and wife Becky of Goldston.

The family will receive family and friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins, and other times at the home of Chris and Stacey Morgan.

Memorials may be made to First Health Hospice or Unity Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 849 Mt Carmel Rd, Carthage, NC  28327.
