Obituary for Ricky Wesley Blake of Jackson Springs

Ricky Wesley Blake, 66, of Morganton Rd. Jackson Springs, NC, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, at Middle Cross Baptist Church with Rev. David Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.

Mr. Blake was born on February 5, 1958, in Moore County to Jerry Wesley Blake and Maxine Glover Blake. As the owner of his own trucking and salvage company, Ricky had a fondness for Freightliner Trucks. Some of his favorite hobbies included fishing especially at the Frying Pan Tower, dove hunting, building trucks and telling a good story. Along with Freightliner Trucks he also had a love for Browning Shotguns, classic cars, and he especially loved all children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joyce Staley Blake.

He is survived by a son, Tim Blake (Lenena) of West End; step-daughter, Melissa McIntosh (John) of Crossville, TN; companion and caretaker, Sharon Parker of Jackson Springs; brothers, Jeremy Keith Blake (Angie) of Beulaville, Anthony Wesley Blake (Tiffany) of Seagrove, Kenny Andrew Blake (Melissa) of Guam, and Terry Fredrick Blake of Carthage; sisters, Pamela Elizabeth McIntosh (James) of Carthage, Sharon Louise Blake of West End, and Jennifer Kelly Thomas (Kenneth) of West End;  grandchildren Hunter Blake, Adley Johnson, Madison Reano (Aaron), Jody McIntosh, Natalie McIntosh, Reagan McIntosh, and Cynthia Diane McIntosh; a special nephew that Ricky thought of as a son, Josh Blake (Tabitha) of Jackson Springs; and many other children who called him Papa Rick.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Candor Funeral Home.
