Thelma E. Wood, age 86, died Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, October 26, 2018 at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with Rev. Wayne Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Pinebluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM before the service.
Thelma was born in Lee County, NC, the daughter of Andy and Annie Ayers. She was raised on a farm, and worked many years in the textile industry. She was the Payroll Personnel Supervisor at Century Curtain Inc. Thelma dearly loved her family and friends, and also loved to travel, the beach and her dogs. She was preceded in death by her husband Jay Wood, her son, Michael Wood, 11 brothers and sisters, and 9 half brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Stella Singleton of Fletcher, NC, Lucy Ann Stone (Harvey) of Sanford, Fran Lawter of Pinehurst, and Charlotte Brooks. She is also survived by a sister, Peggy Pilson (Paul) of Washington, NC, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Services will be entrusted to Boles Funeral Home.
