One airlifted after rollover crash

One person was airlifted to a hospital after a two-vehicle crash outside of West End on Tuesday afternoon.

According to N.C. State Highway Patrol, a Ford Expedition was traveling north on Mt. Carmel Road when the driver failed to stop at the intersection of Dowd Road. A Buick Cascada convertible traveling west on Dowd Road collided with the Expedition. The impact sent both vehicles off the road, and the Expedition rolled onto its roof.

UNC Air Care airlifted the driver of the Cascada from the scene with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. She was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The Expedition’s occupants, including three children, were checked out at the scene and appeared to be uninjured.

Troopers say the driver of the Expedition was cited with failure to stop at a stop sign.

First responders from Seven Lakes Fire Department and Moore County Sheriff’s Department temporarily shut down the intersection known as Harris Crossroads while the scene was cleared.
