One dead, another airlifted after Robbins head-on crash

A person died, and another was airlifted to a trauma center after a head-on crash in front of the Davis Community Center in Robbins on Friday morning. 

Authorities said an F-150 pickup truck was traveling on Highway 705, near Leaman Road, while a Ford Focus was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided at 8 a.m.

The female driver of the truck was life-flighted to an area trauma center, and the 25-year-old female driver of the Ford Focus from Siler City was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The vehicles came to rest on opposing sides of the road with a debris field between them. Both vehicles took extensive front-end damage. 

A portion of Highway 705 between Leaman Road and Acorn Ridge Road was closed for hours while the scene was cleared.

The cause of the collision is under investigation at this time. Authorities did not disclose the identities of the women. 

Moore County EMS, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Robbins Police Department, Robbins Fire Department, NC Highway Patrol, and Moore County Public Safety responded to the incident.
