Smartphone crash activation alerts 911 of dump truck crash, fire

A smartphone crash activation alerted authorities to a dump truck crash in Pinebluff early Friday morning.

Pinebluff Fire and Rescue announced on its social media page that the crash occurred on U.S. 1 south of Thunder Road.

“Upon arrival of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was found to involve a dump truck on fire in the median,” wrote Pinebluff Fire and Rescue on its Facebook page.

The fire department said the driver decided not to be transported to the hospital.

“Use caution if traveling in the area US 1 south of Thunder Road as traffic is down to one lane,” said the department. “The in coming hours both north and south bound lanes are planned to be closed to one lane while the incident is mitigated.”The 

Aberdeen Fire Department was also on the scene.
