The Town of Southern Pines had a discharge of untreated wastewater on Wednesday of an estimated 2,400 gallons along N.C. Highway 22.
The untreated wastewater was discharged into Mill Creek, said Southern Pines Utilities Superintendant Ron Istre in a press release.
The Town Utilities Division was notified of the event at approximately 9:50 a.m. All efforts to mitigate wastewater release were taken.
The system was returned to service at 11:50 a.m., and cleanup/sanitizing efforts were conducted.
