A much-anticipated addition to the Moore County restaurant scene will soon be opening its doors after a long wait, with the grand opening of the new Chipotle on Thursday, Feb. 2. The new location, situated on Highway 15-501 in Southern Pines, has been under construction for several months and is finally ready to open for business and welcoming diners of the Sandhills.
This announcement had previously been kept under lock and key, coming as a sudden, pleasant surprise after months of Moore County Chipotle enthusiasts questioning when the location would open.
Chipotle Mexican Grill, often just shortened to “Chipotle,” is an American chain of fast-casual restaurants specializing in Mexican dishes, including but certainly not limited to tacos, salads, bowls, wraps, and burritos. Along with the standard menu items and toppings, Chipotle also offers keto-friendly and vegan options to accommodate customers’ varying lifestyles.
According to Sally Evans, on behalf of External Communications for Chipotle, the location is set to feature the brand’s signature “Chipotlane,” a drive-thru pickup lane that allows guests to pick up digital orders without leaving their cars.
Chipotle shares a plaza with a handful of other buildings, including Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers and Sleep Number. There is abundant parking between the new buildings, and Chipotle features an outdoor dining patio alongside its usual indoor dining room.
The new location will offer additional benefits and freebies to Chipotle rewards members. “Guests who enroll in Chipotle Rewards by March 6 will earn a free side of topping of guac dropped into their rewards account as part of the new Freepotle perk,” explained Evans. “Freepotle provides Chipotle Rewards members up to ten free food drops throughout 2023. Fans can expect drops like free guac, free Queso Blanco, free chips, double protein, and more.”
Evans also noted the new location is hiring, stating, “there are on average 25 jobs per location, with competitive benefits.” These benefits vary from college degree programs to mental health care to employee bonuses. Chipotle is open daily from 10:45 a.m. – 10 p.m.
The restaurant is located at 10771 Highway 15-501 at Murray Hill Road in Southern Pines.
