Southern Pines man facing multiple drug, fire arm charges

A man from Southern Pines is facing multiple drug and firearm charges after a search executed by the Moore County Sheriff’s Department on March 7. Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest in a press release on Friday afternoon.

According to Fields, detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 200 block of East New Jersey Avenue in Southern Pines. During the search, detectives reportedly seized suspected cocaine, ecstasy, amphetamine, oxycodone, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, marijuana paraphernalia, a firearm, and $2,825.

As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Matthew Graves of Southern Pines was arrested and is facing charges for several drug and firearm offenses. These charges include possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule I, II, and VI controlled substances, felony possession of Schedule I, II, and VI controlled substances, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for controlled substances, simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a stolen firearm. He was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Graves was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a 48-hour hold. His court date is scheduled for March 12 in Moore County District Court.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
