Southern Pines Yoga Company, located at 169 Beverly Lane in the Shops of Southern Pines, celebrates the beginning of its seventh year on Saturday, November 11. In gratitude and as part of this special occasion, the studio is offering two special events on Nov. 11 and 12 and more throughout the month.

“We are so thankful that people have embraced the studio and made it what it is – this refuge, a sanctuary where people can come and just simply be in the present,” said studio owner and instructor Michelle Kaiser, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, YACEP. “And we’re incredibly grateful to all our teachers and those who have done special work here. Everyone who walks into the studio seems to recognize that it does have this special energy.”

On Saturday, Nov. 11, from 3-5 p.m., visiting instructor from Naples, Fl., Suzie Fernandez, E-RYT 500 and RYT 200, and Kaiser and will offer a Yin Yoga Mini-workshop. Yin yoga focuses on long-held postures, breath work and meditation to create a profound and rewarding experience.

Fernandez and Kaiser will lead a second workshop, Gentle Yoga and Fascia Release, on Sunday, Nov. 12, from 3-5 p.m. This class combines the qualities of a gentle yet moderately paced, alignment-based yoga practice with the use of props like foam rollers, tennis balls and others to release fascial adhesions between the muscles.

Both workshops are suitable for all levels of practice, from very new students to more seasoned yogis. Cost of each workshop is $25, and the studio will donate the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

Saturday, Nov. 18, from 3:30-5:00 p.m., Karen Poppele, E-RYT 200, YACEP, will lead a Holiday “Stress Less” Yoga Workshop. The class, suitable for all practice levels, will explore techniques including breath work, Metta meditation and visualization to learn ways to help relieve stress and conclude with a restorative practice and guided meditation.

Following the workshop, the studio will hold its monthly Vegetarian Potluck & Awakening Gathering from 6-8 p.m., led by Mark Hunsicker. Attendees will share a meal, a current or relevant film, and discussion. Cost of the workshop is $15; the potluck is free.

A Restorative/Yoga Nidra class, designed to allow the body to heal and replenish itself and led by Hunsicker and Kaiser, will round out the month’s special activities on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Cost is $15.

“There is a saying, ‘When the student is ready, the teacher will appear,’” Kaiser said. “We are filled with gratitude, so thankful that people continue to seek us out and share their positive experiences with others. We invite everyone to come visit. Come and do your yoga.”
