Raise the Roof fundraiser brings local talent to Sunrise

The Sunrise Theater is dedicating its marquee to The Class of 2020 for the next month.  The theater wanted to do something special for graduates in the community, but with the doors closed since mid-March, the options were limited. Since the Sunrise marquee continues to light up NW Broad Street in Southern Pines while the theater is closed, the Sunrise Theater decided to use its lights to congratulate the seniors.

Graduates are invited to have their photos taken under the marquee while obeying all group size (less than 10 people) and social distancing guidelines (six feet apart) at the Sunrise and Sunrise Park.

The marquee’s message will be dedicated to schools as scheduled:

May 13-20: Sandhills Community College

May 21-24: The O’Neal School

May 25-June 5: Pinecrest High School

June 6-11: Union Pines High School

June 12-14: North Moore High School

June 14: Class of 2020 (no school name specified)

July 23-25: CLC at Pinckney

Schools with graduating seniors that are not on the list may contact the Sunrise at [email protected] to arrange their special announcements.

The marquee will be available for private rentals after June 14 for personalized messages. For more information, visit the Sunrise Theater website or email [email protected].
