SUV flips in three-vehicle crash at Taylortown intersection

A three-vehicle crash shut down part of U.S. 211 West at Main Street in Taylortown on Monday afternoon. The crash occurred around 4 p.m. near the Harris Teeter shopping center at Pinecroft.

According to witnesses, a driver turning from Main Street onto U.S. 211 West collided with an SUV, sending it airborne and flipping multiple times. As the SUV came down, it reportedly struck a third vehicle from behind.

Witnesses told Sandhills Sentinel that the SUV went several feet in the air before landing. 

Emergency medical personnel evaluated several people along the road before transporting at least two patients to the hospital.

Traffic was being diverted along alternate routes while authorities worked to clear the scene of debris and investigate the crash. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation at this time.
