Vehicle lands on roof in Cameron rollover

A driver was able to safely escape a rollover crash on N.C. 24/27 in Cameron Thursday evening.

The wreck was called in just before 7 p.m. after a bystander reported that a pickup truck had left the roadway, flipped, and rolled over, coming to rest on its roof along the side of the road. The vehicle was left fully upside down in an embankment near the tree line.

The driver was able to exit the vehicle before emergency medical services arrived.

Radio traffic indicated that aircare was placed on standby as a precaution while the driver was evaluated, but it was ultimately not needed.

No further details have been released at this time.

Traffic on N.C. 24/27 between Harnett Road and Line Road was diverted while first responders worked the scene. One lane of the highway remained closed for a time as crews cleared the vehicle. Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue advised commuters to use caution while traveling through the area.
