Village council appoints new member

The Village of Pinehurst was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

The Village said in a press release Friday that this is the 27th consecutive year they received the award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America.

“The Village of Pinehurst is fortunate to have excellent financial services staff, led by Director Brooke Hunter, who prepares the Village’s CAFR to meet the GFOA’s standards each and every year,” said Assistant Village Manager Natalie Hawkins. Receiving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 27th consecutive year is a significant accomplishment for our Financial Services team.”
