Aberdeen man facing charges after narcotics found in Food Lion

An Aberdeen man is facing charges after allegedly dropping a bag of cocaine in Food Lion. On Friday afternoon, the Aberdeen Police Department announced the arrest of Willis Blackmon, 63 years of age, in connection with the narcotics previously found in the store on Aug. 14.

“Upon arrival, officers met with the reporting employee and began to investigate the origin of the suspected narcotics,” said the Aberdeen Police Department in a press release. “Officers were able to observe video surveillance, in which they watched an unidentified male subject drop a bag containing the suspected narcotics on the floor.”

The substance was seized and then submitted to the State Crime Lab for testing. After further investigation, police reportedly identified the man as Blackmon.

On Feb. 4, the results from the State Crime Lab confirmed that the substance Blackmon allegedly dropped was cocaine, and warrants were obtained on him for felony possession of cocaine.

Attempts to locate Blackmon in Aberdeen were initially unsuccessful, but deputies later located the suspect and took him into police custody on Feb. 13.

Blackmon was taken before a Moore County Magistrate, where he was given a $2,500 secured bond.
