Timothy Fairley Jr., 22, of Spring Lake, North Carolina, was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, said the Southern Pines Police Department in a Tuesday press release.

On Feb. 11, just before 6 p.m., members of the Southern Pines Police Department Patrol and Investigation Divisions responded to the 100 block of Haines Court in reference to a shooting.

Upon officers’ arrival, aid was rendered to a gunshot victim, who was later transported to FirstHealth of the Carolinas. Based upon information gleaned from the ongoing investigation, an arrest warrant for Timothy Fairley Jr. was obtained.

The investigation has revealed that this was not a random act of violence and that both the victim and suspect are acquaintances, said the police department.
