Car crashes on Carthage Road

A local driver avoided serious injuries after a rollover crash on Carthage Road outside of the Seven Lakes community on Tuesday morning.

According to officials, the female driver of a Honda Accord was traveling on Carthage Road toward Seven Lakes when she went around a curve near Dowd Road, lost control, spun out, and flipped into trees on the other side of the road.

The Accord landed on its roof, and the driver’s door was against a tree. Seven Lakes Fire officials tell Sandhills Sentinel that the driver was able to crawl out of the back of the car on her own. Moore County EMS evaluated the driver at the scene and transported her to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and says slick roads due to rain could have played a factor. One lane of Carthage Road was closed while the crash scene was cleared.
