Car flips several times near Carthage

Around 7:15 Tuesday evening, witnesses called in an accident in the 2600 block of Dowd Road about 4 miles outside of Carthage.

Witnesses came upon the accident as a GMC Yukon was landing upright after rolling over. When witnesses called 911, they reported the female driver was out of the vehicle and walking around.

Moore County EMS was first on the scene. Seconds later, Carthage Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene.

Moore County EMS was able to get the driver into the ambulance quickly for evaluation. She was later taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time but is believed not to have major injuries.

She was the only person in the vehicle.

A portion of Dowd Road was closed for a short time while firefighters cleared debris from one lane.

It appeared the driver had went off the road and lost control. The car flipped several times before landing upright off of the road facing the wrong direction.

The exact cause of the accident is under investigation with the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

Responding to the scene were Moore County EMS, Carthage Fire and Rescue, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and Moore County State Highway Patrol.
