Cheers to graduation: Soraya Stone

Underneath the Friday night lights, she radiates much spirit and determination, embodying not only the essence of teamwork but pure talent. Her efforts extend beyond the cheerleading mat, embodying the ethos of North Moore High School in every endeavor.

A member of the North Moore High School cheerleading squad, Soraya Stone, has taken on a leadership role, mentoring younger members of the squad by fostering a sense of unity and teamwork. Soraya, now a senior, has been involved in a team for quite some time, from being a former Colts cheerleader to cheering as a North Moore Mustang. Soraya has also taken part in cheer extreme all-stars.

Now, in her last year of high school cheer, Soraya has conquered the essence of balancing academics in the busy life of cheer. She has made the vast achievement of being one of the cheerleading captains, leading her team with the knowledge she has gained over the years.

“My coaches believed in me to lead our team and put their faith in me to guide our team to success,” Soraya said. “It would not have been possible without a great team and coaches.”

As a cheer captain, Soraya has implemented strong leadership knowledge and has found just how important cheer has been in her life. With plans to attend a four-year university, she wants to get a degree in biology, animal science, or marine biology.

“I hope to eventually after undergrad applying for veterinary school,” Soraya said. “I also plan to continue cheering on within my college journey because of the joy it brings me.”

At North Moore High School, there are many talented high school students. Soraya offers a word of advice for her underclassmen.

“To get involved in everything you can because before you know it, high school days will be over,” Soraya said. “You will wish you experienced everything you could.”

Born and raised in Moore County, Soraya loves fishing, shopping, and running when she’s not dedicating her time to academics and cheerleading.

“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together,” she said is her favorite inspirational quote by Vincent Van Gogh.
