Authorities investigating after two wrecks in Aberdeen

A single-vehicle accident in Aberdeen left a driver injured, his pickup truck totaled, and two separate law-enforcement agencies involved in investigations. Emergency crews responded to the crash just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Roseland Road and Park Drive.

According to authorities on scene, the crash occurred after the truck veered from the roadway and collided with a tree, which it struck head-on.

While first responders were working the scene, Aberdeen police were called to another incident just blocks away at Wilder Avenue and Park Drive. There, witnesses reported seeing a pickup truck speeding through the neighborhood, crashing into a fence and a stop sign before fleeing the scene.

The vehicle’s description matched that of the truck involved in the crash on Roseland Road. Authorities believe the vehicle may have been involved in not one, but two separate crashes reported in Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported by EMS to FirstHealth Moore Regional. His condition is unknown at this time.

Charges are pending, and both crashes are under investigation by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aberdeen Police Department.
