A driver was airlifted after his vehicle rolled over on Mt. Carmel Road near Carthage on Thursday night. The crash happened just north of the Old Carthage Road and Mt. Carmel intersection shortly after 7:45 p.m.
According to authorities on the scene, the vehicle was headed southbound when the male driver lost control, crossed lanes, and flipped into the ditch.Â
The driver was out of the vehicle and walking down the road when authorities arrived. He was transported via ambulance to a landing zone established at Camp Durant, where he was subsequently airlifted by UNC Aircare.
The extent of his injuries is unknown, and the cause of the wreck is under investigation at this time. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.
One lane of the road was shut down while authorities investigated. Personal effects from the vehicle were scattered along the side of the road, and debris scattered the roadway where the car deviated from the road.
Moore County EMS, Robbins Fire Department, and the Robbins Police Department responded to the scene.
