New bakery sweetens Pinebluff

Moore County residents looking to satiate their sweet tooth are invited to stop by Lupita’s Bakery in Pinebluff, where the Andrade-Rodriguéz family has been serving up the Sandhills with homemade baked goods since their grand opening on August 10.

The bakery offers a huge selection of treats, including sweet crepes, ice cream, assorted desserts, cakes, pastries, coffee, and even sandwiches. The bakery’s menu goes beyond desserts with plenty of hot and savory options to choose from, such as chicharrón preparado and other Mexican dishes.

When asked what he recommends off the menu, owner Michel Andrade simply answered, “Everything! It’s all good!” However, he did concede that guests thus far are particularly enjoying the cheesecakes and flans.

Michel has been hard at work baking for over 20 years now. In his two decades of baking, Michel has been practicing and perfecting recipes that were passed down to him by his father and teaching them to his own family.

“I’ve been baking for at least twenty years now, maybe longer,” said Michel. “I’ve been at it for a long, long time.” Michel and his family moved to the United States from Mexico 21 years ago, but have kept their roots strong through their time spent cooking.

Though the menu hosts its fair share of American options, the star of the show for many is, without a doubt, the traditional Mexican treats. Flan and Concha Bread in particular have been selling nearly non-stop, keeping the family busy in the kitchen.

Over the years, Michel’s passion for baking led him to fulfill orders for family and friends. While passing out dish after dish for his acquaintances, Michel always dreamed of having his own eatery, but it wasn’t until 2022 that his dream became a reality.

With their combined decades of experience in the kitchen, Michel and his wife, Guadalupe, finally made the decision to officially open their own family-run bakery along with their two children, Victor and Michelle. Since its grand opening, the team of four has been hard at work serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and every snack in between day in and day out.

Lupita’s Bakery is located at 324 N. Walnut St. in Pinebluff, conveniently located right off of U.S. 1. The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, Lupita’s Bakery can be reached at 910-696-0010 or messaged on Facebook at any time.
