Aberdeen announces street maintenance begins Dec. 2

A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will begin lane closures on a 3-mile stretch of U.S. 1 in Moore County for four consecutive nights starting this weekend.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday night, crews from Fred Smith Co. will resurface both directions of U.S. 1 and upgrade pavement markings from West Pennsylvania Avenue to the bridge over Valley View Road.

Crews will close one lane of traffic in each direction nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday night through Thursday night. All lanes will be open during the day.

The work is part of a larger paving and resurfacing project in Moore County.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down and use caution while entering the work zone or use alternate routes due to possible delays.
