Bertha Key Newcomer, age 92 of Vass passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Pinelake Health and Rehab in Carthage.
Born on October 25, 1926 in Moore County, NC to the late Isaac W. Key and Maggie Florence Morris Key. Bertha and her husband Bob owned and operated Bobs Pizza in Vass for many years. She enjoyed quilting, painting, sewing, croquet and gardening. She and Bob enjoyed a full life together and enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by two sons: James Herbert Caddell and wife Peggy of Kernersville, NC and George Wayne Caddell of Vass, NC; two stepsons: Robert C. Newcomer of Chicago, Ill, Steven Newcomer of Michigan and a stepdaughter, Rebecca Wise of Elkhart, Indiana. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Key and a sister, Martha Greene.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines, NC with Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Johnson-Grove Cemetery in Vass.
