Obituary for David Ray Hunt of Carthage

David Ray “Red” Hunt, age 71, of Carthage, died Saturday, December 18, 2021 at his home. 

Born in Davidson County he was a son of the late Clyde and Odessa Ashburn Hunt. Red served in the US Army during the Vietnam war and worked as a roofer and HVAC technician early in life. He later started his own business, Hunt’s Seamless Gutters and operated it for many years. 

Red enjoyed his family and they loved him dearly. Those who cared for him over the last few years were his wife Bernice; grandchildren and great grandchildren Dawn, Logan, Amber, Jesica, John, Sadey, Brayden and Ryder. He also enjoyed friends and was always the life of the party. When Red wasn’t working he could often be found on the golf course with friends. 

He was preceded in death by his sisters Elizabeth Faulkner, Treva Smith and Mae McLeod. 

He is survived by his wife of 37 years Bernice Bradock Hunt; and her children Vicki Diver and husband Bobby of Carbonton, Karen Clark of Charlotte and Rick Jessee of Carthage; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Graveside services with military honors will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Priest Hill Presbyterian church conducted by the Rev. Archie Stevens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home.
