Donald Wellington Palmer, 80, of Pinehurst, passed away November 30, 2019 surrounded by his close family.

Don was born in Mount Vernon, NY on June 27, 1939 to Roger and Josephine Palmer. 

He graduated AB Davis High School in 1957 and went on to attend Ryder College.  After college he worked for Empire State Federal Savings and Loan in White Plains, NY from 1959-1982, rising to the position of Vice President before resigning to become an innkeeper in the White Mountains of New Hampshire fulfilling his childhood love for the State.

In 2002 he retired to Pinehurst, NC to pursue his passion for golf.

Don loved all sports, especially baseball and football where his favorite teams were the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. 

He was committed to serving his community from being an active member of the Kiwanis Club of White Plains to coaching Little League baseball with the Yorktown Athletic Club.  He was also an active participant of the Sacred Heart Church including Perpetual Adoration.

He is survived by Mary, his wife of 57 years and their 2 sons Don Jr. and James, their spouses Yvonne and Xann; four grandchildren Dylan, Kyle, Zoe and Siena; sister Dee De Mario and her spouse Bob.  

Funeral services for Don will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst on Wednesday, December 4th at 2PM.  Don will be laid to rest in St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery in Southern Pines, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to FirstHealth Hospice 150 Applecross Rd, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
