Dorothy Stanford Reimel, 93 of Pinehurst, North Carolina, formerly of Florence, South Carolina, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 1, 2018.

Ms. Dot was born on July 21, 1925 in Savannah Georgia, the daughter of the late Ernest William Stanford and Lucille Woodcock Stanford. She married her beloved husband John Joseph Reimel Jr of Bryn Mawr, Pennslyvania on March 15, 1947. They shared 53 wonderful years of marriage and friendship. She is survived by her devoted daughter Cheryl Reimel Rachels (Jim) of Pinehurst, North Carolina and her beloved son, J. Barry Reimel (Ronni) of Long Beach, New York.

Dot was the proud grandmother of Jonathan Stanford Rachels (Franie) of Carthage North Carolina, J.Joseph Reimel of Long Beach ,New York, Matthew Dustin Reimel and J. Tucker Reimel of Birmingham, Alabama, Sandy Rachels (Wendy) of Badin, North Carolina , and Janet Rachels Campisi (Vince) of Reddington Shores, Florida.  She was predeceased by her husband John J. Reimel, granddaughter, Lindsay Reimel Fulton and her brother William (Red) Stanford. She was the great grandmother of Gage M. Rachels, Grayson R. Rachels of Carthage, North Carolina and Nathaniel D. Fulton, Elijah S. Fulton and Isaac Floyd of Birmingham, Alabama and Alex Campisi, Rachel Campisi and her great- great granddaughter Victoria VanHoose of Reddington Shores, Florida.  Additionally, she is survived by her loving nieces. 

Dorothy grew up in Brunswick, Georgia and then moved to St. Mary’s,Georgia .In 1963 she moved with her family to Florence, South Carolina. There she was a valued member of Immanuel Baptist Church and sang in the choir. After she retired from Wachovia Bank, she and John enjoyed traveling together. In 2001 she moved to Pinehurst and became an active member of the First Baptist Church of Pinehurst. Dot was also involved in many community activities such as the Red Hats, Toy Makers at First Health Hospital and she also served as President of the Board at Pinehurst Trace.

Visitation will be at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst on Thursday, August 2nd from 7:00-8:30 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Pinehurst on Friday, August 3rd at 11:00am. Reverend Chuck Vickers is officiating.

Internment will be at the National Cemetery in Florence, South Carolina on Monday, August 6th at 2:00 pm with Reverend Jerrold Akiens, former Pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church of Florence, South Carolina officiating
