Esther Buchanan Dawkins, age 92, of the Deep River Community, died Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
A funeral Service will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Zion Christian Church with the Pastor Steve Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM at the church before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Esther was born in Lee County, NC on May 19, 1930 to Lonnie Walker Buchanan and Bessie Mae Wilson Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Neal Raeford Dawkins and siblings, Lee Buchanan, Helen Buchanan Poe, Nellie Buchanan Thomas, Morgan Buchanan, Curtis Buchanan, Shirley Buchanan, Vivian Buchanan Thomas and Pat Buchanan Worrell.
Esther loved the Lord with all her heart and was truly a prayer warrior. She was a member of Zion Christian Church. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Tonya Dawkins Godfrey (William) of Sanford and Rhonda Dawkins Johnson (Kevin) of Bear Creek; grandchildren Lauren Black (Jacob) of Sanford, Matthew Godfrey (Melanie) of Sanford, Anna Evans (Josh) of Concord and Caleb Johnson of Charlotte; great grandchildren, Oliver Black and Maverick Godfrey; one sister, LaVerne Buchanan Bowling of Sanford and many nieces and nephews.
