Grace J. Sides, of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023. She was born in Chatham County on May 9, 1927, to David N. Jones Sr. and Cleonia B. Jones. The family moved to Ashley Heights when Grace was a young girl.

In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Paul A. Sides; a grandson, Jonathan Horner; two sisters, Shelby Atkins and Geraldine Dalton; and one brother, David Jones Jr.

Survivors are Grace’s two daughters, Paula Tutwiler (David) and Lynn Whittle; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Betty E. Troutman.

Grace retired from Pinehurst Surgical Clinic with more than 20 years.

Grace believed she was a child of God and saved by His grace. Not only did she believe it, her actions reflected it. As a charter member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Grace served as a Sunday School teacher, lay reader, usher, choir member, altar guild, information chain line, and helped prepare snacks and meals for various functions.

Her giving spirit was extended to the community. Friends and family could always depend on Grace to have their back.

The family extends their gratitude for the care and encouragement by FirstHealth Hospice, Pinehurst.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Dec. 17, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Columbarium located next to the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1517 Luther Way, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
