A Cameron crash Friday evening resulted in one driver in jail on suspicion of impaired driving after rear-ending another driver. The two-vehicle crash happened on U.S. Highway 1 just south of N.C. 24-27 around 7 p.m.
According to authorities on scene, a Dodge Charger was traveling south on U.S. Highway 1 behind a Chrysler passenger car when the Chrysler began to slow down. The driver of the Dodge failed to slow down and rear-ended the Chrysler.
A female passenger in the Chrysler was transported to Moore Regional Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chrysler was not injured and was able to drive the car to the hospital to meet the passenger there.
The Dodge driver was reportedly found to be allegedly impaired at the scene and was arrested on a charge of DWI before being taken to the Moore County Detention Center.
Traffic was slowed down to one lane on U.S. Highway 1 southbound for a short time while crews worked the scene and the roadway was cleared.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the crash.
Responding units included Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and N.C. Highway Patrol.
