SPPD reports increase in cases of mail theft

The Southern Pines Police Department announced the investigation of several residential breaking and entering incidents that occurred in the 400 Block of North May Street, 500 Block of South Valley Road, and the 200 Block of Weymouth Road.

These break-ins occurred during the afternoon and evening hours of March 18. The Investigation Division is actively investigating these incidents while members of the Patrol Division have increased their presence in these areas.

The Southern Pines Police Department is also investigating two break-ins that occurred in the 400 Block of North Ridge Street and the 500 Block of E. Indiana Avenue on March 16.

The Southern Pines Police Department is asking citizens to ensure their homes and vehicles are secured at night or when not at home and to report any suspicious activity observed.

The Southern Pines Police Department is seeking additional information from the community. If you have a home security system with outside cameras, please forward any videos that may contain suspicious activity by calling (910) 692-7031, and ask to speak with an investigator or supervisor on duty who will assist with that process.

Police are not releasing any further information as this is an ongoing investigation.
