A Southern Pines woman was arrested after police said a Schedule II controlled substance was found in her purse during a late-night park check.
Aberdeen police said officers were checking local parks after dusk on April 23 when they located a vehicle parked in a lot after posted park hours.
Officers searched the area for the driver and eventually located Gabriella Gironda, 32, of Southern Pines, according to the Aberdeen Police Department. Officers advised her the park was closed.
When officers asked for identification, Gironda gave them consent to search her purse inside the vehicle to locate her driver’s license, police said. During the search, officers found loose narcotics in the purse.
Authorities determined the substance was Adderall, a Schedule II controlled substance, and Gironda was charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Gironda appeared before a Moore County magistrate and was given a $1,500 secured bond.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
