Ross announced as district court appointment

A Moore County attorney has been appointed as a district court judge.

North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein announced on Friday the judicial appointment of Tron Ross to District 29, serving Hoke and Moore counties. Ross is filling the vacancy created after the Hon. Warren McSweeney was elected to the Superior Court.

Ross most recently served as an Associate County Attorney at the Moore County Attorney’s Office and previously worked as an attorney at the Lee County Department of Social Services. She received her B.S.W. from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“Tron has a strong record of serving North Carolina’s children and families,” said Stein in a press release. “As an experienced Moore County attorney, she is the right person for the job, and I look forward to her service as judge.”

Ross grew up in Taylortown and has practiced law for 25 years, having owned and operated a general law practice for 17 years before beginning her career in local government.

Ross is married with two children and has coached basketball, softball, and volleyball in the community for many years.
