Suspect flees after car chase

Robbins Police are actively looking for a suspect who allegedly led officers on a two-mile chase.

According to Robbins Police Chief Ben Haddock, he initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of N.C. Highway 705 and Lindale Drive for an expired tag on a Honda Passport. Chief Haddock spoke with the driver and returned to his vehicle to run information, and that’s when the driver took off down Highway 705.

According to authorities, the chase ended in the 7200 block of Highway 705 outside of Robbins when the suspect pulled into a driveway and ran into the woods. 

At the time of publication, the suspect had not been apprehended, and law enforcement was still on the scene searching.


UPDATE:

Robbins Police Department said Joel William Prentice Jr., 41, was arrested on Jan. 23 and taken to Horry County Detention Center in South Carolina and will be extradited to Moore County.

According to Horry County Detention Center, he is facing charges of:

~violation of probation

~resist arrest; oppose, resist, or assault law enforcement officer serving process

~fugitive

~driving under suspension, license suspended for DUI

~breach of trust with fraudulent intent, value $5,000 or more
