An Aberdeen woman has been arrested on a felony drug charge following an investigation that began with a report of suspected drug activity at a local restaurant earlier this year, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
Police said officers previously responded on Jan. 7 to Hardee’s after receiving a report of drug activity in the business’s restroom.
According to authorities, officers were told the suspect had already left the location and were given a description of a vehicle. Officers later located the vehicle on a roadway and conducted a traffic stop after determining the driver was operating with a suspended license.
During the stop, officers identified Cindy Stubbs, 54, of Aberdeen, as a passenger in the vehicle, police said. The driver reportedly gave officers consent to search the vehicle.
According to investigators, officers located drug paraphernalia in several areas of the vehicle and placed Stubbs under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. During a search incident to arrest, officers allegedly found additional paraphernalia and a white, rock-like substance on Stubbs.
Authorities said the suspected narcotics were submitted to the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory for testing.
Lab results returned on March 25 confirmed the substance was cocaine. Officers obtained an additional warrant the following day and charged Stubbs with felony possession of cocaine.
Stubbs was arrested on April 8 and taken before a Moore County magistrate, where she was ordered held without bond as a condition of pretrial release, authorities said.
All charges are allegations, and Stubbs is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
