One person was airlifted from the practice field at Pinecrest High School Saturday around 2 p.m.
The teenager was playing rugby on the practice fields off of Felton Capel Lane when he reportedly suffered a spinal injury.
Southern Pines Fire & Rescue and Moore County EMS responded to the scene.
The patient was transported to the ballfield on Morganton Road by EMS where UNC Air-care had landed.
He was flown to UNC Hospitals in stable condition.
According to Southern Pines Youth Rugby Facebook page, the young man was “diagnosed with a spinal contusion” and was “released back to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for monitoring.”
