Three arrested in Eagle Springs narcotics investigation

Three people were arrested Wednesday following a narcotics investigation in the Eagle Springs area of Moore County, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a statement that detectives executed a search warrant on July 23 at a residence in the 100 block of Sawgrass Road in Eagle Springs. During the search, investigators seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, Suboxone, oxycodone, non-tax-paid alcohol, and various drug-related paraphernalia.

Following the search, three individuals were taken into custody.

Jeffery Spencer, 45, of Eagle Springs, was arrested and faces numerous drug-related charges, including trafficking in opium or heroin by possession; possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule II controlled substances; felony possession of Schedule II substances; and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for controlled substances. Authorities also charged him with simple possession of Schedule II and Schedule III substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of non-tax-paid alcohol. 

Tefenie Spencer, 50, also of Eagle Springs, faces identical charges.

Both Jeffery and Tefenie Spencer were booked into the Moore County Detention Center. Jeffery Spencer was held under a $75,000 secured bond, while Tefenie Spencer received a $100,000 secured bond. They are both scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on Aug. 7.

A third individual, Cecily Powell, 37, also of Eagle Springs, was charged with simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was placed under a 48-hour hold without bond and is expected to appear in district court on July 31.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
