Tropical Storm Florence is taking her time crawling across the Sandhills Saturday causing power outages for more than half of the county.  Over 28,000 residents were held hostage without power by Florence’s fury Saturday morning.  Residents in Forest Hills subdivision in Aberdeen were without electricity for 26 hours.

Motorist drove slow through the intersections, for several traffic lights weren’t working and were swaying in the wind.

Many area businesses were closed Saturday or opened late.  Panera Bread opened, and a line of wet customers could be seen backed up to the front door waiting to place their orders.

Walmart did open but had one set of doors barricaded by wooden pallets and shopping carts to keep the rain out.  Tropical Florence is expected to head north and exit the Sandhills Sunday or Monday morning.
