Vass woman arrested on heroin meth charges

A 37-year-old woman from Vass is facing five drug charges after she was pulled over by deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.

Tara Hughes was arrested on Monday, Dec. 6 during a traffic stop in the 100 block of Johnson Street in Vass, said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a news alert.

“During the traffic stop, Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle,” said Fields. “As a result of the search, Deputies located heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and items of drug paraphernalia.”

Hughes’ bond was set at $5,000, and she was charged with possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The suspect is due in court on Jan. 12 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
