Second primary election early voters cast 483 ballots

Requests for mail-in voting exceeds normal requests from years past, according to Moore County Elections Director Glenda Clendenin. A secure drop box is available at the Moore County Board of Elections’ front door.

Vote by absentee ballot is Sept. 4-Oct. 27. Download the ballot at, request by postal mail, or by phone at (910) 947-3868, or by email to [email protected], or pick it up at the county board of elections office at 700 Pinehurst Ave., Carthage.

In-person early voting is Oct. 15-31 at:

Aberdeen: Aberdeen Recreation Station, 301 Lake Park Crossing

Carthage: Moore Agricultural Center, 707 Pinehurst Ave.

Pinehurst: Cannon Park Community Center, 210 Rattlesnake Trail

Vass: Vass Town Hall, 140 S. Alma St.

In-person early voting hours are set for weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and there will be two Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m, at same locations as above.

People may also vote on election day, Tuesday, November 3.

“It is certainly exciting to serve in the electoral process,” Clendenin said, “Been doing this 35 years, and this is certainly challenging.”

The State Board of Elections requires a space for candidates’ supporters to speak with in-person voters. Should COVID-19 restrictions be in place, safety measures will be followed.
