Carolina Power & Generators helps prepare hurricane

The Generator Guys at Carolina Power & Generators, Inc., located in Carthage, are here to remind you that hurricane season has arrived. A typical hurricane season will run from June through November. With an unusually early start that included two named tropical storms in mid and late May, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting an above-normal hurricane season this year.

The NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a likely range of 13 to 19 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which six to 10 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including three to six major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher). An average hurricane season produces 12 named storms, of which six become hurricanes, including three major hurricanes.

The outcome of a hurricane is devastating and brings widespread impacts to the region’s energy infrastructure, supply, and markets leaving many without power for days or even weeks. Let the Generator Guys at Carolina Power & Generators, Inc. help you prepare this hurricane season.
