Family escapes Father's Day fire

A family is safe after escaping a fire on Father’s Day. The blaze broke out Sunday around 2:30 a.m. at the 400 block of Mount Carmel Road, four miles outside of Robbins.

Flames and smoke were showing from the two-story single-family home when fire units were called.

According to a Moore County Sheriff’s Deputy, the family was able to escape the fire before firefighters arrived. The family watched from their cars as firefighters knocked down the flames.

Fire crews were able to knock down the fire quickly containing it to one side of the first floor. Parts of the home suffered water damage, but the home was not a complete loss.

The exact cause of the fire is being investigated by the Moore County Fire Marshal.

Responding to the scene were Robbins Fire and Rescue, Carthage Fire and Rescue, Eagle Springs Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Moore County Public Safety, and Moore County Fire Marshal.
