Moore Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) announced its 2024 annual scholarship recipients.
“As your hometown community orchestra, MPO’s mission is to develop young musicians for the world’s stages through experiential and financial opportunities,” said MPO. “Each year, MPO is honored to provide scholarships to deserving student members to support their music education and endeavors, as well as a scholarship for an 8th or 9th grade student who is not a current MPO member. Interested students must complete an application with letters of recommendation, followed by an audition. MPO thanks Jessica Simmons of New Century Middle School for serving as this year’s guest adjudicator.”
These scholarships allow students to upgrade their instruments, attend music camps, receive private lessons, and pay for part of their college education. Since 2005, MPO has awarded Moore County students over $42,000 in scholarship awards. This year’s scholarship recipients have demonstrated excellence in music, community involvement, and overall character.
