Former UNC hoops star switches courts

Tyler Hansbrough, a three-time All-American and a cog on the University of North Carolina’s NCAA men’s basketball championship team in 2009, has switched courts.

Now a professional pickleball player, Hansbrough conducted an exhibition at The Country Club of North Carolina’s courts overlooking Watson Lake on Nov 2.

“CCNC was very fortunate to host this exhibition,” said Tim Scheuerman, CCNC pickleball pro said. “It has been one of our biggest events in my tenure. Tyler was very great with everyone, and we look forward to having him back sometime soon.”

Nearly 100 CCNC members watched the exhibition match between Hansbrough and Scheuerman against Brian Rosenthal, the owner of RDU Tennis and the director of the Raleigh Pro League, and his partner Chris Jaques, the Duke Faculty Club executive director. The attendees also met with Hansbrough and the other competitors for on-court and off-court sessions.

All of the visiting participants agreed that the pickleball venue at CCNC was the best setting for courts that they had “ever seen.”
