Horse dies after hit by car

A horse died after a car crashed into it on Monday. The accident occurred on Plank Road near Borden Road outside of Robbins just before 6:30 p.m.

The woman driving a Honda car was evaluated by Moore County EMS on the scene and released; she was the only occupant of the vehicle.

“She was very lucky,” said Robbins Fire Chief Timmy Brown.

It’s unclear why the horse was roaming the street.

Plank Road was closed briefly while the horse was being removed from the road. Robbins Fire and Rescue cleaned the road with water before opening it back to drivers.

Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
