Man escapes 18-wheeler crash with no injuries

A man escaped a crash with an 18-wheeler truck without any injuries Monday.

The accident happened just after 10 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Highway 15-501 and Highway 211 in Aberdeen.

A Volkswagen Beetle was stuck under the trailer. The drivers of the Beetle and the 18-wheeler had no injuries and refused transport by EMS.

Due to the driver of the Beetle being trapped for a short period of time, a second heavy rescue crew was dispatched from Southern Pines. The Southern Pines Rescue was later canceled. UNC air care was put on standby but was not needed.

Aberdeen Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.

Both northbound lanes of Highway 211 were closed.

Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire and Rescue, Southern Pines Fire and Rescue, Aberdeen Police Department, and Moore County EMS.
