The Moore County Board of Education has appointed Jami Burr as principal of Connect Academy, Matthew McLean as principal of West Pine Elementary, Renee Robbins as principal of Robbins Elementary, and Bryonn Willms as principal of Carthage Elementary, effective July 1.
Jami Burr, who has served as interim principal at the Connect Academy since March 1, brings a robust background in elementary education, school administration, and support for Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) students, said the school district in a press release. Her prior roles include participation in the Sandhills Regional Education Consortium Principal Fellows Program, as well as positions as instructional support facilitator, AIG specialist, and assistant principal at Southern Middle School.
Matthew McLean transitions from his current role as principal at Clement Elementary School in Sampson County, a position he has held since 2019. With a 26-year tenure in North Carolina public schools, his experience includes roles such as assistant principal, athletic director, and other leadership positions in education. His extensive background and experience prepare him well to effectively lead the West Pine Elementary School community, said the school district.
Renee Robbins, a product of the Moore County education system and a 22-year veteran of the district, is currently the assistant principal at Robbins Elementary. Her comprehensive experience includes roles as assistant principal at Westmoore and Highfalls Elementary, instructional support facilitator, and media specialist. Renee’s deep roots in the community drive her commitment to impactful educational leadership, said the district.
Bryonn Willms, with 15 years of public school service, including the past five within Moore County Schools, moves from his position as assistant principal at West Pine Middle School. The district said his broad experience in teaching various grade levels and leadership roles equips him well to effectively support and lead the Carthage Elementary School community.
Dr. Tim Locklair, superintendent of Moore County Schools, expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointments. “We are fortunate to have some of the best principals in the state and country serving our students, staff, families, and communities. I am confident that Jami, Matthew, Renee, and Bryonn will fill the large shoes left by their predecessors and continue our tradition of engaging and inspiring students to excel.”
