Motorcyclist airlifted after 3 vehicle accident

One person was airlifted after an accident involving three vehicles in Pinebluff Saturday night. The accident occurred near the corner of Highway U.S. 1 and Baltimore Avenue around 7:30 p.m.

The accident involved a motorcycle, a Jeep Cherokee with three small children inside, and a sedan.

The collision sent the motorcyclist off the side of the road just past Nic’s Pik Kwik in front of First Bank. The sedan also came off the road into the front of the bank stopping just short of the parking area. The Cherokee remained in the road.

Initially, the motorcyclist was reportedly unresponsive. When emergency crews arrived, he was awake and able to talk to them.

Due to his injury, a helicopter was called. The helicopter from UNC met the ambulance at the Pinebluff ballfield, and he was airlifted to a trauma center.

A second ambulance was called for the driver of the sedan, who was in stable condition. All the occupants of the Cherokee were without injury.

The southbound lanes were shut down while emergency crews worked.

Pinebluff Police were on the scene and is investigating the accident.

Responding to the scene were Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, and Pinebluff Police Department.
